About RESEAT

17 billion pounds. Every year.

That's how much office furniture the US tosses every year. Most of it built to last decades. Most of it tossed inside ten. We're here to break that cycle, one Bay Area office at a time.

01 — Why we exist

Great furniture deserves a second act.

Good office furniture looks great. It's built to last decades. An Aeron from 2008 still beats almost anything you can buy new today. So why does 99% of quality commercial furniture end up in a landfill?

Not because people are careless. Because nobody had a plan. Companies move offices, shrink, scale, pivot. Furniture sits in a hallway for two weeks and ends up on the curb. Multiply that by every company in every city, and you get 17 billion pounds of waste a year. In the Bay Area, where offices open, shrink, and move faster than almost anywhere, that curb fills up quickly. That number is the reason we exist.

We've kept 12M+ pounds out of landfills so far. We've been doing pretty well, not gonna lie. We're more motivated by how much is left to do.

02 — How we work

A different kind of Bay Area dealer.

We are an open line dealer working the San Francisco Bay Area, so no manufacturer's quota decides what we put in front of you, and we don't sell new major furniture at all. Ten core markets, from San Francisco and Oakland through the Peninsula and Silicon Valley, all run by the same crew. We don't lock you into purchases when subscription fits the team better. And we track every piece with RESEAT ID, so you know what you have, what it's worth, and when it's time to refresh. The 70/30 split with our dealer network sits on the invoice, not buried in markup. Everyone sees the math.

01

Circular by design.

Every piece we sell can be resold later. The chair you buy today is the chair we buy back in five years.

02

Plain talk on price.

RESEAT ID tracks every piece. The 70/30 dealer split sits on the line item, not the markup.

03

Smart capital.

Second life when the same piece new costs twice as much. Subscription when the team is going to change shape twice. We say no to work that doesn't fit.

04

For the long run.

Not chasing the one-time sale. Managing your furniture portfolio across a decade.

03 — By the numbers

What we've shipped so far. Plenty more to do.

Real numbers, sourced. The same dashboard you use this year is the one you use to plan the refresh. For the work environment and the environment environment.

04 — RESEAT ID

A digital passport for every piece.

Every piece you buy gets a RESEAT ID. A digital record that travels with the chair, the desk, the panel, for the rest of its life. Including the part after you sell it.

Purchase record

Specs, date, price, vendor. Captured once, available forever.

Warranty status

Active coverage and claims, with reminders before renewal lapses.

Value tracking

Depreciation and resale estimate, kept current to the quarter.

Impact data

Carbon footprint, circularity score, ESG-report-ready.

RESEAT, in plain terms.

RESEAT is a circular office furniture dealer serving the San Francisco Bay Area. We do three things: decommission offices that are closing or moving, buy and resell second life commercial furniture, and furnish workplaces with inspected used product from MillerKnoll, Steelcase, Knoll, Haworth, Humanscale, Teknion, HNI, and Okamura at 40 to 60 percent below new. Every piece we place carries a RESEAT ID digital passport with its specs, condition, warranty status, and carbon impact.
The San Francisco Bay Area is our core market: San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Redwood City, San Mateo, and Walnut Creek. Response is 24 hours in most of those and 48 hours in Walnut Creek. We also deliver to New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
For commercial-grade product, yes. A quality task chair or workstation is built for a twenty year service life, and most second life inventory is three to seven years into it. Second life commercial furniture competes with budget-new from Wayfair Business, IKEA Business, or Amazon Business, not with premium-new, and it outlasts budget-new several times over at a similar price. The savings against buying the same commercial piece new run 40 to 60 percent.
Yes. If you are closing, downsizing, or refreshing a Bay Area office, we buy the resellable inventory and route the rest to donation or recycling. Send the details through the decommission intake and we come back inside 48 hours with a disposition plan: what resells and for how much, what gets donated, what gets recycled, and what the whole job nets out at.
A franchise dealer is contracted to one manufacturer and has a quota to hit, so the spec follows the contract. RESEAT is open line, which means no manufacturer sets our specification. We source the right piece from whichever brand has it, and we do not sell new major furniture at all, so nobody here has a reason to talk you into a bigger invoice.
RESEAT ID is a digital passport attached to every piece we place. It carries the purchase record and specs, warranty status, depreciation and current resale estimate, and carbon footprint data. It travels with the chair or the desk for the rest of its life, including after you sell it, which is what makes the next reconfiguration or resale fast instead of forensic.
